Eleven Years Of Wedded Bliss

Eleven years ago, I walked down the aisle of The Episcopal Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Marietta, Georgia, and proceeded to marry the most charming, handsome, hysterical, compassionate man who has stood by my side through all the ups, downs and in betweens life has thrown us to date. After thinking up all the glamous locations we could get married, we kept it simple.  We married

Back To School

Yesterday marked the first day of school.  It came and went, was fabulous but I am still sitting here thinking to myself, "where the heck did summer go?"  10 weeks felt like 2 - no joke.  As they say, time flies when you are having fun; and we did have fun.  We capped our summer off with a week at the beach.  I'll have more on that later but for now, here is how we toasted the first day of school.

An apple for the teacher (with a little caramel dipping sauce) inspired by Amanda over at Dixie Delights.  Her back to school ideas and printables are pretty hard to beat.  I also love Amanda's Parties To Go - different Amanda but equally adoreable ideas.

A Boost Of Inspiration

I don't know about you but I have lost all motivation to accomplish anything lately.  I assume it is because we have a week and a half left of summer.  My to-do list has a slight dent in it, a personal goal is far from being met and with a trip to the beach looming - I guess I just feel like it is too late to worry about accomplishing things now.

I was pretty down in the dumps about my lack of progress until I looked up and saw my kids playing and laughing AND my puppy just happily watching them (without eating a pair of my shoes I might add).  We've had a great summer.  There have been countless playdates, card games and family shenanigans.  We have laughed until our sides hurt.  Spencer learned how to swim without his floaties and Harrison learned how to dive; amoung other things.  And the best gift was a new job for the hubby which means no more leaving Monday and coming back on Thursday.  So that darn to do list can just wait.  I write this only to say that if you are like me and get bogged down with what isn't being accomplished, look around at what is being accomplished.  I didn't mean to trade my materialistic to do list with a family centered memory making list - but I'll never regret it!

In the meantime, I have joined Instagram so come find me at the_southern_sideboard.  Talk about motivation😍😍😍so many inspirational folks out there.  Can't believe I held out for so long.

So make today amazing in a meaningful way!!!!

Bourbon Peach Tea

Now that we are in the height of peach season, I am on the hunt for yummy recipes featuring Georgia's favorite cash crop. This recipe from Our State magazine is pure perfection for a fun end of summer cocktail. I whipped up this batch last night for an impromptu porch party and it was an instant fav.

Bourbon Peach Tea
3 cups sweet tea
2 cups peach nectar
6 shots of bourbon
Mint and peach slices for garnish
Serves 6

Bottoms up!!!!
