The Sunshine Award

I started blogging back in July as a way to move my daily happenings away from Facebook.  I shared the link with family, a few close friends and was on my way.  No, I didn’t think people cared about every move I made but it has offered a disciplined form of writing and cataloging our activities.  Hopefully, this will be something my children and I can look back over the years and treasure.  An online family album if you will.

Over the past few months, I have enjoyed reading several blogs.  Through them all, I have gained great ideas for recipes, crafts, DIY, faith – so on and so forth.  I’ve commented on a couple of blogs and whaddyaknow…..gained a few followers.  So you can imagine how flattered I was to learn that Lobster Meets Peach nominated me for the Sunshine Award.  Blogging has made me think of ways I can add sunshine to my family.  I was pleased as punch to know The Southern Sideboard brought sunshine to someone else as well. Now it is my turn to let you know who brings Sunshine to me.

The Sunshine Award Questions from Lobster Meets Peach

1.      If you could live anywhere, where would that be?
*Charleston, South Carolina.  We hope to retire there but I have to say, I would not want to raise my children anywhere other than right here in Hickory, NC.

2.      Do you prefer romantic comedies or suspense thrillers?
*Romantic comedies…..especially if it stars Matthew McConaughey.

3.      What is your favorite sport (to watch or to participate in)?
*I ran cross county so running is my favorite sport to participate in.  I’m learning to play tennis but it is pretty ugly at the moment.  My favorite sport to watch is College Football (actually just Georgia Bulldog football) and, of course, whatever my son is playing during the particular seasons.

4.      What is your favorite sound?
*My boys playing together and laughing….warms my heart.

5.      Starbucks or Dunkin' Dounuts?
*Dunkin’ Dounuts coffee with cream although I’m a nut for Starbucks during the holidays.  I don’t understand the Dunkin’ Dounuts craze.  We had one in Marietta, Ga (where I grew up) so it has always been part of my life. I loved going there with my father to get munchkins.  He’d always get a cup of coffee so when DD came to town after his death a few years ago, it was like a big hug.

6.      What is your favorite season?
*Fall – I love the cooler weather, football, fairs and festivals and the excitement of the coming holidays.

7.      PC or Mac?
*PC – because it is provided by work.  I would probably buy a Mac.

8.      What is your favorite vacation spot?
*Ocracoke Island – the most southern tip of the Outer Banks.  It is an old fishing village and not fancy; but I adore it.

9.      Do you collect anything?
*I have every note and card my husband and children have ever given me.

10. What is your favorite blog post you ever written?
*Probably my second blog entry explaining why I named my blog The Southern Sideboard

 And now, my nominees are:

As was explained to me, this is not a chain letter.  Just a way to "pay it forward" to some of your favorite blogs.  If you choose to participate, here are the rules:
  1. Include the award logo in a post or on your blog.
  2. Link to the person who nominated you.
  3. Answer 10 questions about yourself and write 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
  4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award. Link your nominees to the post and comment on their blogs, letting them know they have been nominated.
Ready to play? Here are my questions for you:
1.  Why did you start blogging?
2.  Who/what inspires you?
3.  What are you most proud of?
4.  What is your favorite childhood memory?
5.  What is your favorite holiday tradition?
6.  What is your pet peeve?
7.  What book are you reading?
8.  If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
9.  What is your career?  And yes, being a Mommy is a career.........
10. What is something you can't do without?
Enjoy and thanks again Lobster Meets Peach for my nomination!
xoxo,
TSS
